The Toy Association’s Toy Fair is an iconic tradeshow taking place in New York, NY and catering to anyone in the ecosystem of play: manufacturers, buyers, distributors, inventors, designers, licensors, licensees and creators.

The $104 billion global toy economy is highly affected by seasonal and entertainment related trends; but at the same time, it’s important to note long-term trends and incorporate them into your strategy, rather than slap another “Barbie Movie” or “Trolls” sticker on a toy. Realizing that the Personalization mege-trend is not strategically addressed across the industry, Hamutal (Tula) Schieber, CEO of Schieber Research, chose to discuss this important opportunity at the 2023 Toy Fair.

Hamutal discussed the 3 main types of personalization – created for me, created by me, and created with me – and explained how these pertain to generation Z and Gen Alpha, how new technologies like AI, On-Demand and 3D printing, AR, VR and others can be leveraged for successful innovation through content, social media, e-commerce and in-store media, to help companies generate more revenue, profitability, loyalty and satisfaction.
